Zalando Payments is scaling its risk and fraud detection capabilities – and we need you to help push the boundaries. You will own the full ML lifecycle: from deep data exploration and experimentation to model training, deployment, and real-time monitoring. Working with diverse, dynamic datasets spanning networks, natural language, and customer history, you will uncover fraud and insolvency patterns that shift constantly.
Based in our Risk Management department in Berlin, you will balance the critical task of blocking fraudulent activity with preserving a seamless experience for our customers. You will drive innovation by researching, designing, and developing new transformer-based technologies that deliver measurable financial impact on Zalando's business. You will also engage with the wider applied science community across Zalando.
We are looking for someone who combines a strong research mindset with a production focus – someone who thinks through how to translate new findings into real-time systems. You should enjoy digging into the "why" behind datasets, collaborating across functional areas such as operations and internal tool developers, and turning experimental results into production value.
