In the automotive industry, the topics of "Highly Automated Driving" (HAF), "Autonomous Driving" (AF) and "Advanced Driver Assistance Systems" (ADAS) are becoming increasingly important with regard to the car of the future. IAV is researching these topics and building its own car prototypes and highly automated shuttles. In this context, we are looking for support in the development of innovative interaction concepts (passenger - vehicle; control centre - passenger, etc.) as part of an internship/thesis. We are looking for students who are interested in HMI, human factors and the automated driving context and who are highly motivated to drive these topics forward with us. As part of the advertised internship/thesis, the student will gain a comprehensive insight into the future-oriented topics of vehicle development at IAV. In addition to deepening human factors knowledge, software development skills in Java and experience with script and markup languages can also be deepened. In addition, the technical understanding of the mobility of tomorrow can be expanded by participating in the development of concepts in connection with possible software solutions for optimised human-machine interaction. We look forward to developing a customised topic from our pool of current topics in a personal dialogue with you.
Your Tasks:
- Conception of interaction concepts and assistance with implementation
- Prototypical implementation using agile development methods
- Evaluation of initial concepts and prototypes
- Assessment and careful documentation of the created solution
Necessary Skills:
- You are studying psychology, sensory and cognitive psychology or computer science (e.g. applied, technical or media design computer science)
- You are interested in human factors, HMI design/implementation necessary, as well as an affinity for the automobile
- You have a good command of German and English
- You preferably have knowledge of at least one programming language Python, HTML, JavaScript, Java, C++, C#
- You have a quick grasp of complex systems, analytical thinking and the ability to work independently and on your own initiative

Remuneration is based on our collective wage and salary agreement. The current monthly salary for this position is EUR 979.00. From February 2025, the monthly salary for this position will be EUR 1,012.00.
