Job Description
Beyond Good And Evil 2 is an action-adventure sci-fi RPG set in the same universe as Ubisoft’s original cult classic. You can now join our crew at Ubisoft Mainz to help us shape this amazing project with cutting edge graphics.
As a Level Designer your role will involve creative design and practical implementation of game levels based on the creative vision, using our in-house engine, Voyager.
You will use your experience and technical skills to create 3d spaces, terrain and encounters to craft a living and believable game world.
What you will do:
- Rapidly prototype levels within engine to test out new ideas, gameplay systems and modes
- Collaborate closely with Technical Artists and Technical Level Designers to develop an exceptional player experience
- Prototype the environment, establish the layouts, and suggest ways of using the interactive and non-interactive elements to create the desired emotions
- Integrate elements produced for the game (new gameplay, AI, sound, etc.) and intensify the player experience
- Ensure a good player guidance and consistent difficulty level
- Develop a solid design documentation for level progression (flow), layouts and 3D block-outs for in-engine playtesting
- Daily cooperation with other Ubisoft teams in Europe
Qualifications
What you bring:
- 2+ years of experience in game development
- Ability to create fun and exciting levels using a complex array of mechanics
- Good sense of 3D game space and environmental story telling
- Familiar with indoor and outdoor level design
- Solid knowledge of level design fundamentals
- Fluent in English, both verbally and written
- Creativity, ability to challenge the player
- Knowledge of any scripting language or programming skills is a plus
- Experience with various level editors to create levels in AAA environment
