Since 2017, the Flow Cytometry Facility (FCF) at the Faculty of Medicine at RWTH Aachen University has provided cutting-edge support to internal and external scientific and medical research groups. Core services encompass FACS-based cell sorting, advanced analysis, and comprehensive technical consultation. Working with over 150 researchers across 35 groups annually, the facility analyzes primary tissue samples from human, mouse, and rat models, as well as bacteria and engineered cell lines. State-of-the-art instrumentation includes BD FACS Canto II, BD LSRFortessa, MACSQuant 10, Cytek Aurora spectral flow cytometers, and cell sorters such as BD FACS Aria Fusion and BD FACS Aria II.

Key Responsibilities
Together with your team members, you will coordinate core facility operations and advance research support:
- Execute analytical and spectral flow cytometry as well as FACS cell sorting
- Train, guide, and support facility users during experiments
- Process, analyze, and interpret complex FACS data
- Assist researchers in panel design and experimental setup
- Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting on flow cytometers
- Manage procurement of laboratory equipment, consumables, user schedules, and records
- Prepare internal grant renewal applications, SOPs, protocols, and annual reports
- Conduct educational seminars covering theoretical and practical flow cytometry
- Drive the ongoing technical and operational enhancement of the facility
Your Profile
- Technical qualification as a BTA/MTA or a B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in cell biology, molecular biology, immunology, biotechnology, or equivalent experience
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English (and German)
- Practical experience in flow cytometry, cell sorting, and cell-based methods
- Familiarity with instruments from BD, Cytek, or Miltenyi is highly advantageous
- Analytical mindset with quick problem-solving abilities for scientific equipment
- High reliability, flexibility, organizational talent, and strong teamwork skills
