What the job looks like
Each day you’ll enjoy a variety of challenges, such as:
- Act as trusted business partner for global stakeholders up to executive level, act in this role primarily for clinical trial services and support all other categories in the R&D Development area (e.g. Reg. Affairs, Drug Safety, CMC, CTS, Data Science, etc.)
- Gain and deliver on a comprehensive understanding of stakeholder functional goals and business strategy
- Own, manage and deliver on full procurement value agenda for area of responsibility incl. ROI based sourcing, sustainability and ESG, supplier resilience and innovation
- Define sourcing strategies and ensure execution aligned with business stakeholders, lead the creation of savings pipeline and lead implementation of initiatives, deliver on savings ambition
- Manage key strategic supplier relationships (SRM)
- Give guidance to sourcing managers mainly about tactical sourcing activities, build and engage the procurement network, still execute the key & priority sourcing activities
- Manage larger / key tenders and conduct negotiations with key suppliers
- Drive and implement excellence in R&D Development procurement, based on fundamental knowledge of trends and drivers in R&D sourcing markets, supplier cost structures, knowledge of state-of-the-art procurement tools and processes, etc.
- Contribute on procurement change and continuous improvement initiatives
What you’ll bring to the table
To make the most of this role and truly thrive, you should have:
- University Degree and relevant practical experience in comparable role or as category manager for clinical trial sourcing in a state-of-the-art procurement organization
- Experience in categories close to clinical trials (e.g. Regulatory Affairs, CMC, CTS, Drug Safety, Medical Writing, Biosampling, Data Science) is considered a strong advantage
- Strategic and practical expertise in procurement processes
- Experienced in managing and conducting larger scale negotiations (around €100m contracts)
- Entrepreneurial spirit, pro-activity, takes ownership
- Being able to influence, persuade and orchestrate internal and external stakeholder / teams without formal line management
- Excellent story telling, communication and presentation skills
- Very good analytical skills
- Fluent in English, German speaking is of considered beneficial
