Job Purpose

The Global Product Line Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting technical aspects of products throughout the entire product life-cycle. This includes assisting with beta stage testing of new products, defining optimum product/process parameters for priority products designated by the Global Product Line Director or Manager. This will include on-site support for new product installations, troubleshooting issues with priority processes, and gathering data for the GPLD/M on benchmark processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Conduct benchmarking studies on competitive products or processes
• Specify clear and realistic new product development targets for R&D to act upon
• Actively participate in new product development projects and ensure product specifications are met
• Facilitate beta stage testing and product launch activities for new products
• Develop and implement Priority Products as defined by the Global Product Line Director
• Provide technical assistance in setting benchmarks for best-in-class product performance
• Offer project management services for coordinating activities related to Priority Processes
• Coordinate with strategic key customers as defined by the Global Product Line Director
• Help maintain Global versions of Product and Technical Documentation, and establish a 'baseline' version of operating parameters for Technical Data Sheets and sample plating
• Create and maintain training materials for internal use by Sales, Technical Service, and Marketing personnel
• Assist in an advisory capacity in difficult technical troubleshooting issues
• Perform other product/process support activities as required

Requirements & Qualifications

• Technical degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Physics strongly preferred. Five+ years of relevant hands-on experience in the electroplating industry is required
• Understanding of automotive product qualification processes is an advantage
• Good spoken and written English. Multilingual capability is a considerable advantage
• Good PC skills, esp Microsoft Office products
• Strong technical troubleshooting skills required
• Team leadership & intercultural cooperation skills
• Willingness to travel (Travel will exceed 40-50% on a regular basis)
