Who You'll Work With

Based in one of our European offices, you'll join our Operations Practice.

Our Operations Practice helps clients tackle complex operational challenges. Combining strategic thinking with practical implementation, our consultants develop operational strategies to solve critical problems.

McKinsey’s Product Development service line focuses on helping clients create products that meet market needs, generate attractive margins, and enhance brand reputation. Our work involves developing strategies that drive lasting improvements to innovation and business performance.

Joining McKinsey as a Junior Consultant means joining a firm that invests in your professional development. You'll work in teams to help leading organizations solve their most difficult problems.

Your impact within our firm

You'll actively contribute to problem-solving for clients by identifying issues, forming hypotheses, designing analyses, and synthesizing recommendations.

As part of our two-year Operations Excellence Program (OEP), you'll work on client engagements, gaining operations and consultancy skills through on-the-job coaching and structured capability-building.

We view the OEP position as the start of a rewarding career with McKinsey. You'll serve as a junior practice specialist on client engagements, working with colleagues and clients across various industries and service lines. You'll gain the expertise to help companies achieve operational excellence.

With the OEP community, you'll dedicate time to functional training and knowledge development led by operations experts. You'll follow a curriculum based on operations excellence themes and receive advanced training in areas like manufacturing, product development, or supply chain management.

Upon completion, successful consultants will join our global group of operational excellence experts. OEP graduates are working at all levels of the firm.

Your qualifications and skills

Master’s degree and exceptional academics required
Initial experience in product development (e.g., product optimization/value analysis, leading R&D projects, technical supplier management)
Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
Mobility and enthusiasm for taking on European assignments during the work week
Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and local office language
