We are looking for an Operations Manager to support our growing activities in Darmstadt, Germany.
The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the Business Director in the day-to-day activities, managing closely the relationships with clients, partners and RHEA Group employees throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Your role is critical to the success of our teams in Germany. Supporting our employees in their day-to-day work, ensuring clear engagement with the company, their projects and our clients. Driving continuous improvement in the services we offer, the internal operational processes and initiatives.
The suitable candidate will be a strong communicator, with excellent proven project/service and people management skills.
The RHEA team in Germany provides crucial space engineering services, systems and products to our institutional customers in Darmstadt, namely the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) and EUMETSAT. Here we are experienced in ground segment system engineering, spacecraft operations and assembly, integration and testing, ground station engineering and operations, project management and quality assurance.
We have proven capabilities in applying industry standards such as ECSS-E-ST-40/ECSS-Q-ST-80, ISO9001 and the ISO/IEC 27000 series, using ‘best practice’ tools and processes. In addition to our traditional spacecraft development and operational activities, we also work in space safety activities, including space weather, planetary defence, space debris and clean space.
The scope of work will include:
- Support the implementation of the regional operations strategy to enable the business to deliver its full portfolio of services and solutions.
- Managing resourcing plans and capability planning, identifying risks and proposing mitigating actions.
- Leading continuous improvement projects in RHEA Germany Operations. Identifying and actioning opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, clarity, working environment, amongst others.
- Act as the Service Manager for certain contracts and provide back-up to other Service Managers in RHEA Group Germany.
- Maintain compliance required by the clients and in the delivery of contracts and services. Ensuring delivery within the schedule and conforming to all contractual requirements including reporting.
- Monitoring KPI’S of the services. Maintaining budgets, and ensuring robust financial controls are maintained.
- Leading the implementation of RHEA HR processes applicable to the operational teams, including:
- Coordinate and implement the annual Employees Performance Reviews in accordance with RHEA processes and tools.
- Lead the Training process in the region. Managing the budget, planning and coordinating with Human Resources and RG Operations.
- Ensuring key HR processes are implemented rigorously and demonstrating RHEA Group’s values.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, organizations and partners.
- Supporting the implementation of RHEA Health and Safety Policies and processes. Ensuring the identification and mitigation/control of risks associated with the activities of the business in the region.
- Working with integrity and supporting the company’s regional compliance in Quality and Security.
- Supporting the implementation of policies and procedures in Germany.
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
- University qualification in a technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in an operations or business management function, with team management, ideally in the space, security or defence sectors.
- Excellent organization and planning skills, working to strict deadlines and managing priorities.
- Experience in delivering complex technical projects or services to institutional and commercial clients, ideally in the space, security or defence sectors.
- Experience in defining and managing resourcing plans, project schedules and delivery Risks. Ideally experience in managing a budget of a project or contract.
- Ideally a German national or has C1 level written and spoken German.
- Individual drive for results, showing creativity in problem-solving and ability to manage and measure work across multiple teams.
- Ability to build relationships of trust at all levels within an organization.
- Comfortable dealing with ambiguity, working in a transparent and collaborative manner.
