AWS is set to launch the groundbreaking European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), a pivotal advancement in Utility Computing (UC). We are actively recruiting experienced systems engineers with a robust background in cloud operations to spearhead this initiative. As a key member of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will be instrumental in building and leading operations and development teams focused on delivering highly available AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. Learn more about ESC on our blog:

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the ESC launch in 2025, collaborating closely with global AWS teams, and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technology. A typical day involves engaging with technology leaders, enhancing daily operations, and improving the availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
Our primary goal is to deliver scalable services and ensure a high-availability experience for EU customers. If you are an experienced professional seeking a challenging and impactful opportunity, we encourage you to join us in building a best-in-class development engineering and operations team that embodies AWS’s commitment to customer satisfaction and continuous innovation.
European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) is an integral part of AWS Utility Computing (UC).
AWS Utility Computing (UC) drives product innovations — from foundational services like Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to the consistent release of new product innovations that distinguish AWS’s services and features. As a UC team member, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS. Within AWS UC, Managed Operations engineers work directly with AWS customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
A day in the life
You’ll primarily focus on operating and enhancing one of the largest software systems. Throughout the week, you will assess the operational health of your team’s services, and upon identifying an anomaly, you will create an actionable bug report. As a responsible engineer, you understand the importance of planning before making changes to production systems, so you will review and execute changes following a change management process. Later in the week, you will help resolve your team’s operational issues. You’ll conclude the week by developing and sharing a valuable script with your team, designed to expedite the root cause analysis of complex problems.
You may occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside of regular hours.
Eligibility requirements
