About the Role:

We're looking for a full-stack Sr. Ruby on Rails developer to join our software engineering team and co-build our global data commerce platform that makes commercial data sharing easy. As an individual contributor, you will build impactful features for a large international user base and continuously ship high-quality code. Being a proven team player, you're used to give and receive code reviews, quickly learning from senior engineers and coaching juniors. As a full-stack software engineer you feel highly comfortable working on both front-end and back-end.

The start date is August/September 2024, work location is Berlin, base salary starts at €80K gross / annum (based on experience).

What You Will Do:

• Build well-tested features from scratch and touch every piece of the tech stack (FE, BE, DB)
• Review code from your peers to improve code quality and coach/help them to learn and grow
• Implement easy-to-use web UIs for B2B users that are used to subpar experiences
• Enable international payments considering global taxation, B2B checkout methods, etc.
• Engineer a globally distributed data warehouse and fulfillment center for secure data delivery
• You closely collaborate with the founders and colleagues from product, business, and marketing

Our Tech Stack:
Ruby on Rails, Ruby, Javascript, Gitlab, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Cloudflare, Stripe, Elasticsearch, Redis, Postgres, AWS S3, DigitalOcean, Rudderstack, Delta Sharing, etc.

Our Tech Challenges:

• Enabling easy data product creation from tabular datasets as well as unstructured datasets such as image data, video data, audio data, and text data located in our customers' data warehouses
• Selecting the right technology partners and implementing an end-to-end data commerce platform to facilitate data subscription management, global tax-compliant billing, B2B payment processing, and cross-cloud data fulfillment
• Building and maintaining API integrations with data marketplaces such as Google Cloud Analytics Hub, Databricks Marketplace, SAP Datasphere Marketplace, Snowflake Marketplace, AWS Data Exchange, Datarade Marketplace, and hundreds more
• Transforming our RoR monolith into a more modular approach to decrease code dependency between different products

Minimum qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer with Ruby on Rails
• Substantial teamwork experience with code reviews and retros
• Practical experience in building and scaling Ruby on Rails applications
• Experience in application architecture, modular monoliths, micro-services, and containerization
• Strong user focus and web development experience

• You worked in multiple dev teams with different setups, practices, and stacks
• You have a degree in computer science, information systems, application programming, or similar
• You worked on e-commerce platforms and online marketplaces
• You worked with international B2B payment processing
• You worked with / built data warehousing technologies
• You have the ambition to become a team leader and shape the team
• You have experience and affinity to coach junior engineers
