The Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) is a member of the Helmholtz Association (HGF) and funded by federal and state government. AWI focuses on polar and marine research in a variety of disciplines such as biology, oceanography, geology, geochemistry and geophysics thus allowing multidisciplinary approaches to scientific goals.

As part of the Helmholtz Association's funding initiative ‘Recruitment processes that are sensitive to diversity’, we are looking for a

Recruiting & Diversity Specialist (m/f/d)

for our HR department, ideally commencing 1st April 2024.

Tasks

Further develop and implement our strategic goals for diversity-sensitive processes, structures, and a culture of openness and appreciation in all phases of personnel recruitment
Analyse quantitative and qualitative data on diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), and recruiting, and develop a diversity monitoring framework
Develop suitable HR marketing measures to attract a diverse pool of candidates and optimize the candidate journey for applicants with various backgrounds and identities
Use active sourcing, especially in social networks, from researching to convincingly approaching candidates
Support the work of selection committees, from creating the requirements profile to conducting job interviews, in order to ensure a positive and respectful experience for all candidates
Implement and/or organize sustainable training on DEI and recruiting topics (e.g. unconscious bias, interview techniques, etc..)
Support our International Office, especially in the preboarding and onboarding of new international colleagues
Manage the project and project communication and engage stakeholders across the institute

Requirements

Master's degree in business administration, social sciences, psychology, cultural studies, or similar
Professional experience in recruiting and/or HR marketing, preferably several years
Dedication and commitment to the topics of diversity, equity & inclusion
The ability to successfully engage stakeholders at all levels of the institute
Knowledge and experience in using social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, XING etc. for recruiting
At least basic knowledge of collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
Fluency in German and English

Preferred Qualifications

In-depth knowledge of DEI research and theories, as well as current trends and best practices
Several years of qualified professional experience related to DEI
Intercultural competence
Experience in optimizing the candidate journey
Successes in the active sourcing of diverse candidates, also with creative and unconventional strategies
Knowledge and experience in project management
Familiarity with key figures on diversity in the workplace
Knowledge of the German and international science systems
Knowledge of the AGG

This is a full-time position and (initially)limited to 2 years with the possibility of a longer-term perspective. It is also suitable for part-time employment. The salary will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the Federation (Tarifvertrag des öffentlichen Dienstes, TVöD Bund), up to salary level 13. The place of employment will be Bremerhaven.
