Your Role in the Optical Architecture Group

As an Optical Systems Architect focusing on hardware, you will lead the design of cutting-edge DWDM communication systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Systems Architecture, Systems Engineering, and Software Development to architect and implement next-generation optical hardware platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for DWDM line system designs.
• Align product requirements closely with Product Line Management.
• Architect DWDM systems considering fiber transmission, signal power evolution, and nonlinearities.
• Develop specifications and baseline designs for optical amplifiers, ROADMs, and multiplexers.
• Own and review detailed hardware and software documentation with international engineering teams.
• Analyze component capabilities and technical feasibility for new platforms through experimental testing.
• Demonstrate advanced optical transmission technologies to key global customers.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Deep understanding of DWDM systems, fiber effects, and transmission design.
• Technical mastery of hardware like EDFAs, Raman amplifiers, and ROADMs.
• Experience in long-haul optical link design, OSNR calculations, and power budgets.
• Knowledge of advanced coherent modulation formats and their real-world application.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to work in international, cross-functional teams.
• A Ph.D. with 8+ years or an M.Sc. with 12+ years of relevant experience in Optics, Physics, or Engineering.
