We are looking for a Government Affairs Manager to join our Government Affairs team at Microsoft Berlin!
The position is part of the Corporate, External and Legal Affairs department in Berlin. The team includes the areas of Government and Regulatory Affairs as well as Philantrophies. Government Affairs represents Microsoft's interests vis-à-vis government, parliaments and other state authorities. The team is responsible for event operations at the Microsoft Berlin Capital Representative Office and serves as the point of contact for politicians and civil society on all aspects of digital policy in Germany.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze legislative public policy issues impacting Microsoft to proactively advance regulatory and public policy priorities that create a favorable environment for business and innovation in alignment with Microsoft's mission.
- Gather intelligence and prepare position papers, policy briefings, presentations for pending legislative and regulatory initiatives.
- Provide political analysis of local regulatory and political initiatives, including providing impact assessments and analysis of implementation requirements for upcoming legislation or regulatory initiatives.
- Take ownership of legislative dossiers, facilitate the cooperation between Government Affairs and the responsible product counsels, organize meetings and events and develop internal strategy and communication.
- Work cross-functionally with Microsoft’s Brussels Government Affairs to support our EU wide advocacy campaigns and to provide insights on EU policy proposals from a German perspective.
- Design and execute strategies to engage government policy makers (at federal and state levels) and regulators.
- Represent Microsoft in responsible working groups of trade associations and industry alliances and provide input to policy papers of such organizations.
- Establish partnerships with industry and NGO thought leaders that can advocate and advance Microsoft's policy, political, and business priorities. Partner with Microsoft´s communications team to craft messages that enhance the company's reputation and communicate corporate positions and objectives to enhance coordination with strategic government and industry partners.
Your Profile:
- Degree in political science, economics or law, preferably with international experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in politics, administration or corporate affairs.
- Proven work experience in digital regulatory and/or policy matters, including interaction with policy makers and/or regulatory agencies. Basic knowledge of the relevant German and EU legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Ability to develop and implement political strategies-
- Excellent understanding of political processes.
- Excellent organizational skills and project management capabilities proven in complex multi-stakeholder proceedings.
- High affinity for IT and business topics.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and/or legal issues in a political context
- Ability to speak and write in German and English fluently
