How will you make an impact?
The Digital PCR (dPCR) Technical Sales Specialists (m/f/d) will concentrate on developing and growing our market presence in digital PCR with the newly launched Applied Biosystems Absolute Q platform and assays. The role sells directly as well as supports the broader field and inside sales teams in delivering against our goals. This role serves both as a sales role plus a technical resource for the customers across the territory (based in Germany, supporting DACH and V4) as well as across a highly matrixed sales organization.
To be fully effective, the person must be technically sound in dPCR applications, quantitative real-time PCR for gene expression and genotyping and possess the skills for learning and supporting new market needs for dPCR.
The dPCR Technical Sales Specialists will be responsible for attaining sales quota and developing high level relationships with key opinion leaders (KOL’s), with the purpose of making these engagements successful as positive references. As a member of a matrix organization, it is important to have good communications and alignment with the local district sales teams and business partners within Thermo Fisher.
What will you do?
- Implement and maintain an annual territory plan and quarterly business plans to meet or exceed financial goals to be shared across our selling matrix.
- Use product and application knowledge across our genetic analysis portfolio to successfully apply consultative and strategic selling presentations.
- Understand customer goals, priorities and challenges to provide solutions best positioned to address clinical customer needs.
- Focus on high-growth areas and markets, key applications to drive our digital applications into new and emerging markets.
- Consistently and accurately lead the sales process including sales forecasting, pipeline management and sales supervising through the use of Sales Force and other designated IT tools.
- Regularly use analytics tools and CRM’s to drive territory success and achieve plan.
- Assess sales team training needs and provide market feedback and product development input to internal business partners.
How will you get there?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field; or the equivalent knowledge and experience. A Master’s or PhD degree is desirable.
- Minimum 5-7+ years of sales experience in Life Sciences or similar Field Application Support.
- Experience selling newly introduced technologies, systems and/or applications in the life science market
- Technically sound in PCR, dPCR, qPCR, gene expression and genotyping
- Experience working with key opinion leaders is helpful.
- Must have scientific consulting skills demonstrating extensive knowledge of dPCR technologies and applications
- Ability to accurately cost projects and speak to workflow advantages to create Return on Investment with the customers and sales colleagues
- Consistent track record to lead a sales strategy throughout the sales process and evaluate customer’s business data
- Accomplished sales skills and can speak to competitive technologies, demonstrate value as a supporting partner in the pre-sales process, while also independently driving sales throughout all stages of the sales process.
- Understands the market: customer’s industry, business process, critical success factors, competitive standing
- Builds effective relationships, collaborates and communicates clearly
- Articulates value by linking solutions to key customer challenges and opportunities, comfortable influencing and negotiating.
- Fluent in German and English
- Located within the defined geography of the territory
- Minimum of 50% travel is expected by car, train & airplane
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
