Our Digital R&D (DRD) organization creates digital solutions for chemical product and application development at Covestro. DRD integrates expertise in materials simulation and computational chemistry, laboratory automation, data science, quantum computing and high-performance computing.
Data is at the core of everything we do in R&D and its importance will only grow with the rise of artificial intelligence. We are therefore building up a Data Office within DRD to ensure a strategic approach to data handling across all Covestro R&D areas. It will serve the organization with data stewardship, data engineering and data governance expertise.
Your role:

Lead a team of data stewards and data engineers to improve the availability and quality of data in Group Innovation & Sustainability and in the R&D organizations of Covestro

Carry responsibility for data governance, particularly in the areas of research & development, product management, and sustainability

Further develop and implement the data strategy, fostering a data culture, and collaborating closely with various business units and corporate functions

Define and implement technical standards and policies for data capture, storage, protection and sharing
WHAT YOU OFFER

You have a university degree or completed training in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, technology (STEM) or a comparable field

You have several years of in-depth professional industry experience in functions like software development, data engineering, data architecture or data governance

You have a good grasp of a wide range of technological concepts including cloud architecture, software development, database technologies, ETL tools, and data catalogs

Moreover, you have a solid understanding of data protection regulations and other compliance requirements

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in German and English complete your profile, allowing you to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and to explain complex data-related concepts clearly and concisely
