THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Lounge by Zalando is a premier online shopping club delivering fashion and lifestyle products to millions of members across Europe. As a Full Stack Engineer in our Growth & Lifecycle team, you will drive the engine that powers our daily communication with users. You will focus on our Kotlin Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) and React frontend to build dynamic, personalized landing pages that convert marketing traffic into active members.

This position is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. From day one, you will ship real features to production, take end-to-end ownership of your services, and grow your skills alongside senior and principal engineers in a collaborative environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and deploy high-quality features across the Kotlin and React stack in agile iterations.
• Work on both backend composition logic and frontend user experiences for automated landing pages.
• Partner with product managers and designers to transform requirements into seamless digital experiences.
• Implement advanced personalization, targeting, and A/B testing features.
• Operate and maintain your services within a cloud-first AWS and Kubernetes environment.
• Expand your technical toolkit through continuous feedback and knowledge sharing within the team.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 2–4 years of professional experience in full-stack engineering, specifically with JVM languages (ideally Kotlin) and React.
• Solid knowledge of the modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem, including ES6 and build tools like Webpack or Vite.
• A commitment to writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn cloud infrastructure, including AWS and CI/CD practices.
• A pragmatic, collaborative mindset with strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
