The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation with the increasing use of Ethernet in zone-based E/E architectures. This evolution not only unlocks innovative possibilities but also introduces new cybersecurity challenges.
Software-defined networking (SDN), a crucial element of the Software-defined Vehicle, introduces new essential requirements, such as dynamic network reconfiguration during runtime and improved performance for cryptographic protocols due to the increased communication demands of ADAS functionalities. It also necessitates strong security configurations for the network due to the growing complexity of communication streams.
- We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate with a solid foundation in embedded security and cryptography.
- In this role, you will perform detailed analyses of key agreement protocols, focusing on embedded shared media applications.
- You will also develop innovative methods for peer authorization and create tools to efficiently generate security configurations for (automotive) Ethernet networks.
- Finally, you will publish, present, and discuss research findings in leading journals and at prominent conferences.
Qualifications - Education: excellent Masters degree in IT Security, Computer Science, Mathematics, Communications or comparable
- Experience and Knowledge: strong background in (applied) cryptography with a particular focus on network security and cryptographic protocols, including security models and basic security proof techniques; strong knowledge in embedded systems; good software development/programming skills
- Personality and Working Practice: you are self-motivated, reliable and enthusiastic; an independent and creative way of working characterizes you and you are able to work in an international team with a diverse background
- Enthusiasm: motivation to built proof-of-concepts for theoretic results
- Languages: fluent in English
