Technical assistant
The starting date is as soon as possible. The permanent position is part-time (50 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (up to TV-H E 9a, 50 %). It may be possible to increase the position to full-time at a later date.
Tasks:
- plannig and application of molecular biological techniques, in particular DNA-Extraction and PCRtask 2
- operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruction of international employees in the use of this equipment
- ordering laboratory materials, maintaining sample collections and databases
- coordination of laboratory and chemical use with other work groups
- assisting in the preparation and implementation of courses as well as in the supervision of students and interns
- general tasks of laboratory organization
Profile: - completed training as a technical assistant (BTA, MTA or similar) with a corresponding state-recognized qualification, laboratory technician with equivalent skills and experience or comparable training
- experience with the extraction, purification and amplification of DNA and a basic understanding of molecular biological processes
- experience in operating molecular biology equipment and the willingness to learn new techniques
- experience with metabarcoding, phylogenetics or phylogenomics, the organization of laboratory processes and in dealing with SAP is advantageous
- ability to work independently, motivated and as part of a team
- good knowledge of German or English and basic knowledge of the second language
