The job
We are seeking a highly motivated master student for heterologous expression of metalloproteins from D. mccartyi CBDB1. The project focuses on expressing these proteins at the outer membrane of E. coli to establish a modular system for Engineered Living Materials (ELMs).
Your tasks
- Cloning of constructs with signal peptides.
- Heterologous production and purification of membrane proteins in E. coli.
- Genetic code expansion and click-chemistry.
- Fluorescence microscopy.
- Presentation of results in group meetings.
The Master's thesis position is limited to 6 months and will be supervised in Leipzig.

Your profile
- Studies in biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, or related fields.
- Previous lab experience.
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner.
- Proficiency in English.
