Your role in our future
The Scientist in Global Applications–Dairy has a key role to grow applications knowledge in strategic categories and areas. You will be able to demonstrate technical leadership, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and project management skills. This position will have great impact on building global applications knowledge to deliver projects with high potential commercial values. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop category application knowledge (dairy) to support the growth of strategic areas.
- Conceptualize, design application plan, and execute application projects in a scientific manner.
- Deep dive on applying ingredients knowledge in food matrix and augment the value proposition
- Create and modify food processing methods and product characterization methods (including physical and sensory test) within application category as necessary.
- Interpret data independently to provide technical solutions on highly complex food application problems
- Demonstrate scientific and technical leadership in food application.
- Assess and identify food application gaps by reviewing insights and trends from market metadata analysis as well as scientific literatures on new technology trend, process methodology, and regulations.
- Provide peer review of technical documents
- Translate technical application findings into meaningful business recommendations, communicate and share results, driving decision making and technology adoption to internal peers and stakeholders.
- Navigate a matrix working environment to builds relationships, provide connections within the regional and global, technical, and commercial teams.

- Expertise in food formulation, processing, and product characterization in application of different food ingredients specifically in different dairy subcategories (yogurt, frozen dairy, cheese, cream, etc).
- Experience with ingredients structural functional properties is highly desirable.
- Experience with pilot scale dairy processing equipment (i.e. UHT) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrates ability to deliver results where high levels of ambiguity initially existed. Good problem-solving skills and quick decision-making capability.
- Evidence of critical thinking skills and ability to challenge the status quo. Relentless focus on delivering high-quality results for the customer and business.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Experienced with design of experiments (DoE) and capable of utilizing suitable DoE tools to deliver projects.
- Experience with flavor application and interactions with ingredients in relevant food matrix is a plus.
- Basic project management skill is a plus.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken, and one other European language is essential (for Lubeck)
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a Master’s degree, in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related area of study.
