Job Description
Student Project: Development of System Model for Hydrogen combustion engine
(Internship plus optionally thesis project)
Background:
The EU green deal is targeting to make EU climate-neutral by 2050. The intermediate target is a reduction of CO2 emission by 55% compared to 2019 by 2030 (known as “fit for 55”). DENSO is fully committed to contribute to climate neutrality and supporting this direction. This target is in the next step assigned to a sector specific CO2 reduction target.
In the mobility sector the mainstream is the electrification of the powertrain, which is progressing well in the passenger car area. However, some applications in the heavy-duty area are hard to electrify and require alternative ways to reduce their CO2 emissions.
One approach is the utilization of the well-established combustion engines operated with could be used as fuel for the combustion engine. The changes on vehicle by adding a H2 tank system and on engine are small compared to electrification of the powertrain. However the combustion of hydrogen in a Diesel process requires additional system modifications since the hydrogen is not self-igniting and a spark or second fuel is required. To understand the impacts on the system level when using hydrogen, the simulation is commonly used to enhance the functionality of a system and increase the development speed.
As an intern / working student (m/f/d) in our team, you will:
- Get insights into processes and structures of an automotive supplier,
- Develop a physical based 1-D model for a hydrogen combustion engine model in Siemens AMESim for system simulation,
