Research Assistant (all genders)
Stem Cell Research
Full-time and permanent
Your key responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and evaluate novel differentiation protocols of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) towards cells of different lineages with a focus on the neural lineage
- Optimize current processes for SOP generation
- Manipulate iPSC and iPSC-derived progeny genetically for target validation
- Perform in depth biochemical and functional characterization of the iPSC-derived cell types
- Support different drug discovery projects in the early phase of assay development and high throughput screening all the way to H2L
- Consistently provide high-quality data on time in a report and/or presentation format
- Support cell culture activities on weekends with high level of independence
Your ideal qualifications:
- Successfully completed apprenticeship as “Biologisch-technische/r Assistent/in” (BTA), CTA or MTA with some years of professional laboratory experience or a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Biology or other relevant discipline
- Skilled in cell culture techniques and experience working with iPSCs
- Industry work experience, preferably in a Pharma, Biotech, CRO or core facility setting is a strong plus
- Experience in genetic manipulation of iPSC and iPSC-derived cell types
- Experience in small molecule drug discovery in neurodegenerative disease and biochemical assays such as TR-FRET, MSD or ELISA and/or immunocytochemistry
- Ability to work on and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously and independently to produce results against challenging timelines.
- Team-oriented, responsible, reliable with strong communication skills
- Dynamic personality with high levels of drive, enthusiasm, independence, commitment, and proactivity
- Willingness to work on weekends regularly (approx. every 6 weeks)
- Strong command of the English language – both verbal and written; German is advantageous
