Position Overview & Purpose:
Fresenius Medical Care, a $19 billion company, and largest Kidney Care company in the world, is seeking a Senior Director Human Rights Program / Human Rights Officer (m/w/d)to join our Global Labor Law Team. The Senior Director Human Rights Program / Human Rights Officer (m/w/d)will further the development and implementation of a global program with regards to social standards and human rights.
Tasks and Activities:
The further development and introduction/implementation of FME's global human rights strategy
Implementation of a holistic human rights due diligence process in accordance with applicable legislation such as LkSG, CSDDD and others
Definition and further development of FME’s Global Human Rights strategy in close alignment and cooperation with the management responsible at global, regional and national level
Drive and direct appropriate preventative/remedial actions and evaluation of effectiveness
Coordinate risk assessment/risk analysis processes, provide technical guidance to relevant business and functional teams
Identify human rights risk areas through an ongoing risk management process, including assessment and analysis of human rights issues and violations, response and capacity gaps
Establish global processes to ensure that identified risks are integrated into daily operations and to ensure that potential human rights violations are addressed (e.g. through a grievance mechanism, appropriate remedies)
Engage with FME's global human rights community and advance the program
Establish and promote key contacts and partnerships to ensure effective dialog/exchange on human rights issues. Engage in dialog and advocacy with relevant national authorities and other international actors. Engage with national human rights institutions, national and international NGOs and other actors and stakeholders
Provide input and advice on human rights issues and developments to internal and external stakeholders (capital markets, investors, public, ratings and rankings)
Supporting the relevant teams/functions in responding to stakeholder inquiries, e.g. client and investor inquiries, ratings and rankings, etc.
Establishment and further development of a solid data management process with definition of KPIs, data categorization and allocation of data requirements and data sources
Creation and maintenance of documentation (e.g. human rights report for authorities, NFR, human rights report for MB), use of information management tools, including the database
Monitoring, conducting research and writing on human rights-related political, social and regulatory developments at global, regional and local level Researching, collecting, documenting and analyzing information on the human rights situation at global and local level
Contact person for the legal and HR department for analyzing the human rights risk in business decisions and support in advising the legal and managing directors on human rights issues that may impact the business
Issue-specific internal and external communication etc.
Knowledge of UN Global Compact, ILO standards, human rights and labor laws in various jurisdictions
Development and implementation of measures to raise internal awareness of human rights (e.g. training for specific functions and global training for employees)
Desired Profile & Qualifications:
Licensed lawyer in either an European jurisdiction (incl. UK) and/or US jurisdiction (law degree and law firm and/r inhouse legal experience)
At least 6 years of relevant work experience in a multinational company or consulting firm
At least two years of experience in a supervisor position
Ability to establish and implement processes, guidelines, procedures and data collection in a complex matrix environment, mostly without formal authority
Strong analytical and communication skills as well as a collaborative and structured work style
In-depth knowledge of the relevant requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong intercultural skills
Understanding of complex organizational dynamics
Strong process-oriented, structured and conscientious way of working
Experience in project management and change management an advantage
