The Digital R&D (DRD) team is responsible for innovative computational solutions for chemical product and application development at Covestro. DRD integrates expertise in materials simulation and computational chemistry as well as competencies in laboratory automation, data science, quantum computing and high-performance computing.
With great passion and deep technical expertise, you will apply data science and develop predictive models to increase speed, efficiency and creativity of Covestro’s R&D on products and processes.
Your tasks in detail:

In your new position you will be part of an expert team applying cutting-edge data science methodologies as part of modern corporate R&D covering all aspects from exploration to product and process development

You will support R&D activities and projects with data engineering solutions and data science expertise while constantly striving for improving our in-house technologies and its comprehensive application in Covestro

You will be part of an agile innovation network to tackle existing challenges in chemical R&D on products, formulations and processes, for example, by connecting internal domain knowledge and data science approaches with computed chemical descriptors

You will be in close exchange with (multi scale) simulation experts, data scientists and experimental researchers to push R&D digitalization and enable our global R&D community to increase speed, efficiency and creativity in the development of sustainable products and processes

You hold a university degree in data science, natural sciences or related fields

You have either concluded a PhD study related to statistics, data science and machine learning or have first professional/industrial experience in the field of technology

You have good theoretical background and hands on expertise in the application of data science methods

You have good knowledge of relevant programming and scripting languages, relational and non-relational databases, data processing, analysis and visualization, as well as cloud computing infrastructures

You exhibit a proactive working style in an international environment with a strong service-oriented mindset and have a hunger on learning new topics

You are bringing a sound understanding of chemistry or a willingness to connect with the domain

You are fluent in English, and effective communication skills in oral and written form are part of your profile
