The Manufacturing Engineering Team for Electrode Mixing is responsible for leading and scaling up of dry electrode mixing processes for our cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line. We are all about moving large quantities of difficult to handle powders!

The battery cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products.

The intern supports day-to-day team operations, being involved in the design, development, commissioning and ramping-out our high-throughput equipment, while working in a cross-functional team to improve targeted areas of our process as we ramp.

The intern plays a key role on continuous machine improvement during all project phases and will work closely with Mixing organizations across Germany and United States.

What You’ll Do

Work with manufacturing, process, and equipment engineering teams to develop and set up design of experiments (DOE), as well as build and test Tesla equipment and products.
Organize and analyse data sets that outline the systemic improvement opportunities
Identify, address, and solve process concerns with equipment performances, reliability, efficiency, yield through modification of existing equipment, and/or design of an improved equipment.
Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design and develop equipment, control philosophy and procedures
Learn how to coordinate projects.
Manage projects involving multiple departments and/or outside contractors

What You’ll Bring

Keen interest in moving massive amounts of difficult powders!
English fluent, both written and spoken.
Preferably studying or experienced in a relevant engineering field of chemical, process, or mechanical engineering
Good knowledge in the use of common MS Office applications.
Ability to analyse problems and find solutions in a structured manner.
Analytical mindset and problem-solving oriented.
Ability to work in a team as well as in an organized and independent manner.
Ability to keep an overview and proactively improve processes.
Aptitude to learn.
Detail oriented with strong record-keeping.
