In an approach from bed to bench and back, the TRiP (Translational Research in Pain) group aims to identify complex sensory mechanisms in humans and rodents to develop new therapeutic strategies for pain treatment. Functional imaging, microscopy and electrophysiology are the main techniques being used besides molecular biology. The highly-motivated thriving international team is well connected in neuroscience and clinics and is looking for a fellow who is intrested in elucidating the mechanism how intranasally applied lidocaine ameliorates headache. The project is part of the SFB1158 granted by the DFG.

Your Tasks

Headache models in mice
Mouse breeding and AAV injections
Fluorescence imaging experiments on various microscopy setups, e.g. in vivo multiphoton imaging in mice
Biochemical assays and immunohistochemistry
Imaging data analysis and the development of algorithms to facilitate the analysis

Your Profil

Scientific university degree in life sciences, molecular medicine, engineering, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, or broadly in the natural or applied science field
Interest in Neuroscience
Hands-on experience in sample preparation, fluorescence imaging and image analysis is desirable
Skills in at least one scientific programming language (e.g. Matlab, R, Python) and/or experience with ImageJ is preferred
Flexible, self-reliant, motivated, responsible and organised, strong social competence, interpersonal skills, excellent English skills
Open to discuss new ideas in an interdisciplinary team and being flexible to apply various experimental methods
