Main Responsibilities:
Plant Operations Management and Improvement
- Ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the country quarry and plant in order to meet the business demand by production of consistent quality products suitable for the market.
- Manage all operations at the plant and quarry ensuring reliable and sustainable operations with minimal maintenance issues.
- Coordinate all site related operational functions involving: Logistics, Purchasing, Production, Packaging, Maintenance, Warehousing / Inventory, Quarrying and Development
- Develop and implement continuous improvement plans for processes, products and production optimization for the plant and quarry.
- Manage local capital expenditure within the defined budget in line with the business plan, and ensure to complete projects in accordance to schedules, budget and quality (with support from the Engineering Team).
- Liaise with functional or operational area managers (for example in supply and logistics, or sales) to understand their current and future product needs and develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing manufacturing activities.
- Manage to meet/ exceed customer requirements whilst complying with all policies and regulations.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of supervisors who are responsible for various production activities.
Quality, Safety, Health and Environment
- Have site executive authority and responsibility for obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and under the Environment Act and Regulations.
- Ensure the company meets safety, environmental and quality standards (act in consultation with the Sustainability Manager).
- Manage SEQ compliance, as well as compliance with site related regulations for the quarry and plant, including Omya employees and contractors.
- Manage the ongoing improvement of the safety culture and behavior.
Representative and Relations Duties
- Be the local representative of Omya’s interests.
- Liaise with the community as necessary to ensure that Omya’s reputation is enhanced.
- Ensure industrial relations site agreement is updated and implemented.
- Ensure good relation ship to non-majority shareholders within our JV
Administrative
- Ensure all site monthly reporting occurs in a timely and accurate manner.
- Fulfill some HR responsibilities (attraction, remuneration, training, development etc.) for local Omya team, in coordination with Director Operations and Human Resources department.
Candidate Profile Requirements:
- University (Bachelor’s Degree) or other tertiary education/qualification with technical component or equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing.
- Solid experience in managerial or supervisory position.
- Planning, permitting and operational experience in plant operations would be an advantage.
- Strong people management and interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity and strong social competences.
- Ability to work in a cross-functional team, in multicultural environment.
- Highly motivated and results orientated.
- Ability to find solutions and proactively solve problems.
- Ability to manage projects and drive to completion.
- Effective planning and project management skills.
- Excellent management skills: supervising, monitoring, team building and solving team issues.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a professional group environment and local communities.
- Excellent command of both oral and written local language and English are required.
- Good command of both oral and written additional language is beneficial.
- Available to travel occasionally within region, as required, to support the business.
