Intern Evaluation*

in Bonn

You can start your internship with us as soon as possible. Mobile work within Germany is possible in agreement with your team, but we would still like to meet at our headquarters in Bonn Bad Godesberg from time to time. Voluntary internships are limited to a maximum of three months and the workload is 20 hours/week in order to enable further qualification within the framework of ongoing trainings. The duration and scope of work for mandatory internships depend on the respective study regulations and are accordingly possible in full and part time. An internship of at least 4 months is highly desirable.

As Intern Evaluation in our MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning) team, you will actively contribute to strengthening Welthungerhilfe's MEAL system. During your internship, you will support us in becoming a more impact-oriented and accountable learning organization. Specifically, you will assist in the production of a framework that will guide us to better understand, measure and scale the impact of our work. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the strategic impact measurement and evaluation processes of an international development cooperation organization.

Your responsibilities

Together with the team, ensure the conceptual development of an impact framework to position Welthungerhilfe in terms of impact measurement and scaling in development cooperation
Contribute to the development and dissemination of methodological manuals and decision support tools on impact measurement for different organisational levels
Support the conceptualization of strategies for scaling up impact
Research on the topic of (rigorous) impact evaluation, system evaluation, scaling, as well as methods for impact measurement
Editorial revision of corresponding documents and papers mentioned above
Support the facilitation of working meetings and the preparation of decision papers
Collaborate across all hierarchical levels, with colleagues in Germany and abroad, in order to contribute and implement different views, impulses and ideas in the above-mentioned papers
Assumption of additional MEAL-relevant tasks as agreed upon

Your profile

You are currently enrolled as a student or have recently graduated in a relevant field such as economics/political/social sciences, development studies, or a degree program with a focus on evaluation.
You are not afraid to tackle complex problems, to analyze information from various angles and uncover hidden patterns.
You are a conceptual thinker, who can connect the dots, explore possibilities and bring fresh perspectives to impact.
You enjoy researching information - whether it’s digging deep into academic journals, sourcing the web for insights, or searching internal documents.
You have already had first contact with the fields of international development policy, evaluation, or impact assessment.
You enjoy working in an intercultural environment and have an open-minded personality.
You are experienced in working with content management systems such as MS Teams.
You have a very good command of spoken and written English.
