Join our Facilities Management team as an HVAC Technician! You'll be responsible for the operation, control, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems at various college locations.
This position is primarily based at the Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus in Cambridge, Ontario, with potential support to other locations.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, including digital interfaces, heat recovery systems, motors, and more.
- Monitor and repair refrigeration systems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Ensure code compliance through inspections and testing.
- Prepare documentation and update manuals for the computerized maintenance management system.
- Source parts and estimate costs for projects and repairs.
- Purchase materials via purchase order or corporate credit card.
- Provide technical support to staff.
- Install and commission new HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Monitor building systems through advanced software.
- Monitor contractor work and report discrepancies to the Manager of Operations and Maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson – Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (313A Certificate of Qualification) in good standing within the Province of Ontario is required
- Minimum of eight years of practical experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing old and new systems after the attainment of a Certificate of Qualification is required
- Gas Technician II certification is required; Gas Technician I certification is an asset
- Ozone Depletion Prevention Card (CFC Certificate) is required
- Working knowledge of the Energy Act, HVAC related Code, CSA standards, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Ability to foresee and interpret problems before they become serious
- Ability to follow wiring schematic associated with a variety of types and makes of equipment
- Thorough knowledge of blueprint reading from architectural to mechanical drawings
- Ability to recognize and act on safety hazards
- Building management control systems, including Pneumatic and DDC
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Must be a customer, team-oriented, and self-motivated individual
