The lab technician supports laboratory and pilot plant-based scientific investigations by carrying out routine technical tasks and experiments. The lab technician takes care of mapping raw material quality by sensory and aroma analysis, as well as of sample receipt, documentation, and shipment.

Responsibilities

• Collecting, receiving, tasting, and analyzing samples using the correct testing equipment. Focus on aroma and sensory analysis.
• Designing and executing laboratory and pilot plant testing in line with standard procedures, recording observations, and interpreting findings.
• Recording all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic.) Updating/managing raw material databases.
• Prepare and facilitate tasting sessions
• Tasting of raw materials and flavors in the application.
• Writing / administrating specifications
• Organizing and storing all samples and chemical substances
• Cleaning, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment.
• Keeping up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in food chemistry, food technology or comparable working experiences.
• Proven experience working in a lab, ideally in the aroma or food industry.
• Working experience operating GCMS equipment.
• Affinity to operate pilot plant equipment.
• Sensory and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
