Head of Human Resources
ISR International School on the Rhine is a private, coeducational school catering for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12. The school operates a non-selective admissions policy and has an enrolment of around 1040 students with around 60 nationalities represented in the student body.
ISR is accredited by the German authorities as an ‘Anerkannte Internationale Ergänzungsschule’ (International Supplementary School) and by the US accrediting agency Cognia (formerly known as AdvancED). ISR is an IB World School authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme and also offers Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) IGCSE courses. The school is a certified member of the Council of International Schools (CIS).
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Head of Human Resources to join our expanding ISR team to start in January 2024. Applicants must have in-depth experience in international recruiting (active sourcing), using social media tools, excellent English and German language skills (both written and verbal), and previous experience in Human Resources Management in international companies. In addition, we are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrated ability to set goals, meet deadlines, and successfully manage multiple assignments.
Area of Responsibilities
Recruitment:
- Recruiting (Teachers as well as non-teaching staff- both locally and globally) for ISR Neuss, ISR Niederkassel and ISR Meerbusch,
- On-boarding (new employees) and contract management (contract renewal and termination)
- Relocating new staff and existing staff (support with flights, apartments, insurance, banking)
- Managing visa and work permits for staff
- Support in allocating company apartments for employees,
- Managing Orientation each August
Development:
- Overseeing the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, productivity and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development
- Developing organization strategies by identifying and researching human resources issues.
- Collaborating with senior leadership to understand the organization's goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention
- Guiding management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies
- Supporting management by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions
- Developing and maintaining the Company Pension plan
- Maintaining personnel files and updated staff details
- Conducting the annual Intention Survey and communicating results to the management team, then dealing with contract negotiations and extensions
- Informing community members of staffing changes; mass mailings
- Organising Staff Training Organisation of Summer school staff and assistants' requirements
- Fulfilling government requirements for staff (staff qualifications for Ministry of Education)
Controlling:
- Developing human resources operations financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements
- Overseeing monthly overtime calculation
Legal Issues:
- Liaising with Lawyers, 'Ausländeramt', 'Arbeitsagentur'
- Complying with Government requirements by studying existing and new legislation
