Role Overview
As an Ocean Import Specialist at JAS Worldwide, you will take charge of managing and processing ocean import shipments for our global customer base. Your mission is to ensure the highest quality standards while providing innovative service solutions that exceed client requirements. You will navigate complex international regulations and best practices to maintain full compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end customer bookings and provide precise shipping instructions to overseas offices.
- Proactively communicate with customers regarding arrival notices, charges, and potential customs delays.
- Execute accurate customs entries, including invoice classification and electronic filing, with a focus on FDA-related processes.
- Monitor ABI transmissions and coordinate with government agencies such as USDA, FCC, and DOT to ensure smooth cargo release.
- Collaborate closely with the sales department to ensure a seamless transition of new accounts into operations.
- Optimize job costing by managing payables, receivables, and accruals in line with corporate financial guidelines.
- Coordinate final delivery with trucking partners and maintain real-time updates in tracking systems.
Your Profile
- At least 3 years of professional experience in import operations or a comparable combination of education and expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of import entry procedures, compliance rules, and international customs laws.
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly within the Microsoft Office suite.
- A detail-oriented and self-motivated professional who excels both independently and within a team.
- Experience with FDA, ISF, and OGA transactions is highly advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
