The German Research Foundation (DFG) has approved the establishment of the International Research Training Group (IRTG) "Metabolic and Endocrine Drivers of Infection Susceptibility" (MEDIS), a cutting-edge collaboration between Dresden University of Technology (TUD), the University of Zurich (UZH), and the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. Within this program we are seeking for a motivated and talented PhD candidate for a position in the Chavakis/Mirtschink group at the University Hospital Dresden.
The project aims to investigate links between inflammation and adipose tissue function in the context of obesity and metabolic disease. The PhD project will involve use of cutting-edge techniques, including flow cytometry, genome-wide transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses, indirect calorimetry, and metabolomics
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, medicine, molecular biology, or a related field
- A strong interest in metabolism, immunology and adipose tissue biology
