At CARIAD, we're bundling and further expanding the Volkswagen Group's software expertise. We’re uniting over 6,500 global experts to build a scalable technology stack, including a software platform, unified electronic architecture and reliable connection to the automotive cloud. Our CARIDIANS are developing vehicle functions such as driver assistance systems, a next-generation infotainment platform, power electronics and charging technology, and digital services in and around the vehicle.
Our software can already be found in Volkswagen ID. models and will soon power Audi and Porsche vehicles with the E3 1.2 platform in 2024.
It's no easy task, but with experts like you, we can shape the future of mobility. Join us at CARIAD and be part of this exciting journey!
The purpose of our PhD Program is to promote innovative topics that are relevant to CARIAD. We cooperate with top universities and bring new research projects to life. Our PhD candidates get the opportunity to develop and implement innovative ideas in their projects for CARIAD and the respective scientific field. The PhD projects are accompanied by a supervisor and a dedicated CARIAD mentor. Essential trainings are provided for the PhD candidates to complete the PhD Program.
Our "Pre-development & Future Technology" team is looking for a PhD student to collaborate with us on the project "Central Car Server-Supercomputing for Automotive Server (CeCaS)". In this public funding project, high-performance computing platforms, novel vehicle architectures and future-proof software development processes and methods are being researched. Our team is working in this field to meet the requirements of a Software Defined Vehicle of the future of mobility within the VW group. The role of the PhD student will carry out an investigation on how the generative AI can be used in the future to create automatically executable codes and test cases based on a functional model. Through this extensive research, functional modules will be analysed in order to predict their load & time behavior.
- Compile an overview of the process of system design tools carried out at CARIAD.
- Derive requirements for a modular toolchain for functional modeling, simulation and testing based on virtual hardware and software twins.
- Conduct a comparative evaluation of common open and commercial system engineering tools.
- Design and implement the automated generators for executable codes and test cases for a model based on functional modules and the prediction of their load and time behavior within the framework of a research cooperation.
- Support the team on the following topics: SW architecture, Software defined Vehicle, AI-based code generation, system engineering.
- Completion of a Master's degree in: computer science, artificial intelligence, physics, mathematics, or equivalent field.
- Experience in the field of data science or data engineering, or in the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Analytical and conceptual skills in system architecture, system engineering and system modeling.
- Fluent in English. German would be beneficial.
- Start date: flexible (with a fixed contract of three years)
- Flexible working hours and the opportunity to do remote work
- Attractive remuneration & compensation package
- Networking events, trainings & exciting workshops
- You get a fixed annual salary of (based on 13 months):
-
- Year 1: 43.654 EUR (brutto)
- Year 2: 48.503 EUR (brutto)
- Year 3: 53.365 EUR (brutto)
- Important: The PhD admission requirements are set by the university and candidates have to fulfill these requirements before starting their projects. Candidates are responsible for finding a professor for supervision before joining Cariad.
