We are looking for a student (m/f/d) to work on a Master Thesis in our Applied Catalyst Technology (ACT) Modelling team based in Munich.
Here, you will be active in a multidisciplinary project with the ACT Modelling team, experts from R&D and external partners. You will develop a detailed pilot plant model for a high-volume catalyst application. By utilizing the most advanced techniques and software for process modelling your contribution will enable accurate predictions of full-size catalyst pellets in industrial scale applications.
Responsibilities
- Review the state-of-the-art kinetic models and comparison with the kinetics that were in-house developed at Clariant
- Implement a comprehensive reactor model including reaction kinetics for a pilot plant unit including the main equipment parts
- Employ and test the kinetic model(s) and identify the most suitable candidate based on statistical model discrimination
- Validate the model using pilot plant data to analyze the effect of different process parameters and propose optimizations based on the results
Requirements
You have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Chemical Engineering, Energy-/ Environmental Systems Engineering or a related field
- You enjoy analyzing complex phenomena and relationships and describe them with mathematical tools in order to improve the understanding and efficiency of chemical processes
- You have at least basic experience in using process simulation software such as gPROMS, Aspen Plus, or ChemCAD
- You have acquired general knowledge in heterogeneous catalysis
- You understand the basics of modelling approaches in Chemical Reaction Engineering
- Proficient in spoken and written English, basic knowledge in German desirable
- Self-starter with a team mindset
Our Offer
- A work field where pioneering is possible, setting the ground for the future of the digitalization of catalyst application
- An interesting and challenging project that creates a significant impact for Clariant BU Catalyst
