As our new Research Scientist - Formulation and Coating (m/f/d), you will have the opportunity to drive and shape the product portfolio in a newly established business segment within the growing field of hydrogen technologies through the development of formulations and optimisation of coatings for PEM water electrolysis. You will develop and scale catalyst coated membranes (CCMs) at our new state of the art facility in the Mainz area
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will supervise the formulation and coating of CCMs, evaluate experimental results and ensure that the set-up and opteration of the experimental facilities are up to date
- Together with the laboratory team you organize and optimize laboratory workflows and are responsible for compliance with work, safety and environmental protection regulations
- Based on expertise, you will initiate research projects and drive them forward including potential external partners at universities or in industry
- You will conduct regular exchanges with other research areas, legal and strategy to clarify technical and intellectual property requirements for product development
Due to the extreme dynamic and complexity of the underlying, multi-sector market, effective relationship and interface management will be key. For the same reason, the communication aspect will be more pronounced than usual. The field’s strategic importance to ECMS also triggers an above-average level of internal communication requirements, including occasional management briefings.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- PhD or Masters in chemistry or a related discipline, with experience in catalysis, formulation or coating, PhD preferred
- Excellent communication skills in an international environment in German and English
- Familiarity with standard software used in chemical research
- Willingness to travel (moderate level)
- Work location is Ludwigshafen (regular presence in the Mainz/Budenheim area is necessary
