What is a Staff Software Engineer?
As a Staff Software Engineer at Mozilla, you'll provide technical leadership, build relationships across teams, and drive the team's objectives forward.
What you’ll do:
- Innovate and deploy new Firefox features through improved OS integrations, updates, and installations.
- Enhance Firefox's usability and security in large deployments by creating advanced administration tools.
- Evaluate and prioritize tasks to align with team and product goals.
- Collaborate with expert software engineers to deepen your understanding of Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Improve Firefox quality by identifying and resolving software defects, benefiting millions of users.
- Work effectively within a geographically diverse development team.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in systems programming on Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Proficiency in Windows and/or macOS development, particularly with Win32/Cocoa APIs.
- Strong understanding of C/C++ and familiarity with Rust.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in a distributed team.
- Ability to make pragmatic decisions regarding trade-offs and safeguards when implementing new features.
- Experience collaborating with product and project managers.
