At Evotec’s site in Göttingen, Germany, the Metabolic Diseases team is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated
Research Assistant (all genders)
Expression Profiling

Main responsibilities:
- Isolate RNA and DNA from cell cultures, tissue and blood using manual protocols as well as laboratory automation
- Quantify and quality control isolated nucleic acids using spectrophotometric, fluorometric and electrophoretic methods
- Perform reverse transcription synthesis followed by gene expression analysis via qPCR
- Perform raw data quality control and analysis
- Document experiments, use of reagents and consumables for inventory and reordering purposes and communicate minimally with internal clients
- Perform other molecular biology techniques such as PCR, genotyping, and restriction digestions occasionally
- Support the Human Sample Management group with isolation of nucleic acids from human blood and tissue samples using automated liquid handlers occasionally
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed apprenticeship (BTA/CTA/MTA) or bachelor's studies in the field of Natural Sciences, preferably in molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field with hands-on experience in an academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment or alternatively, a master’s degree in a relevant discipline with proven experimental expertise
- Experience and confidence in performing molecular biology methods (RNA and DNA isolation, qPCR, PCR agarose gel electrophoresis etc.)
- First-hand experience with laboratory automation or robotics. Ideally, with experience in handling and maintaining a robotic platform with occassional troubleshooting when needed
- Ability to work collaboratively with others as a true team player
- Flexible, resourceful, reliable, and a can-do attitude
- Ability to pay particular attention to detail and keep accurate records
