The Medical Education Manager is a critical, high-visibility customer facing role within Shockwave Medical (SWAV) responsible for developing and executing medical education content and programs. The position has international responsibility, will work mainly within our Peripheral IVL portfolio, and reports to the Medical Education and Professional Relationship Manager.
The successful candidate will join a team passionate about supporting physicians and nurses in their journey to better understand the challenges of calcified arterial disease and the role IVL can have as a therapeutic option for their patients. They will be responsible for building and executing medical education offerings in the Peripherial space as well as the chance to work alongside work class faculty. The individual will develop and maintain productive relationships with Key Option Leaders and must be skilled at appropriate coaching of physicians in the development and delivery of peer-to-peer education.
Responsibilities will include:
- Ability to communicate scientific or medical information to lay audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to interpret clinical and other complex information and data and capable of teasing out relevant proof points for key stakeholders.
- Demonstrates knowledge in understanding commercial, product, technical and clinical aspects of calcium market, including competitive devices.
- Develop and manage Physician/Fellow/AHCP education programs such as educational summits, peer-to-peer training, dinner programs, roundtables, training villages, symposia, internal speaker programs, etc.
- Together with the marketing team plan and execute events (webinars, symposia, Ad boards, local workshops), contract new speakers, maintain compliance standards, prepare, and document speaker materials.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapies, scientific literature, and products in within areas of focus.
- Act as an advisor and consult with the field organization to uncover HCP learning needs and develop educational solutions to meet those needs.
- Contribute to annual Needs Assessment Process and maintain compliance and reporting standards in line with Shockwave Medical Education procedures and guidelines.
- Complete post event follow-up with attendees and faculty, including appropriate invoicing for services rendered and post-program analysis & reporting.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field of study. Advanced degree preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in a medical device field-based role and/or marketing and/or medical affairs. Professional Education an advantage.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, experience establishing processes and systems.
- Good project management skills.
- Proficient in PowerPoint.
- Good prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively multitask, juggling various projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
- Fluent in English and one additional major European language, German being a preference.
- Works effectively on cross-functional teams. Demonstrated willingness to make decisions and to take responsibility for such.
- Effective written, verbal and presentation skills with all levels of management and organization.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
