The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is U.S. Citizens and legal U.S. residents in Germany. In accordance with the Status of Forces Agreement between Germany and the U.S., you must be a U.S. citizen or citizen of a NATO country with a U.S. permanent resident card in order to be eligible for NAF employment. Citizens of Germany (including dual citizenship if Germany is one of the countries) as well as "ordinarily resident" US citizens are not eligible for NAF employment per SOFA agreement. If not already in the commuting area, must be able to verify the ability to arrive before a firm job offer can be sent.

To qualify, you must meet the experience requirements detailed below. Experience includes both paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Credit will be given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Ensure your resume clearly describes your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, transcripts are required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
You must possess an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods, basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training, or obtain these within 6 months of hire. Experience demonstrating practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, procedures, and skill in using and maintaining pool and safety equipment is highly desirable. Must be capable of frequently lifting and carrying medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifting and carrying objects up to or over 100 pounds.

Education

While some federal jobs allow substituting education for experience, this position does not.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed at foreign institutions may be used to meet requirements, provided you can prove it is equivalent to education gained in a U.S. program. It is your responsibility to provide this evidence when applying.
