With around 2,400 employees, the Corporate Technology Department (T) works together with business units to secure the future of the Siemens Group. T researches future technologies with internal and external partners such as universities and research institutes. The core of the work is the transfer of research results into current and future product developments via prototype realization as well as technology consulting for the software development departments of various business units of Siemens AG and its subsidiaries.

As Embedded Linux Software Consultant (f/m/d) you will be part of a highly qualified team in an international environment (including Germany, USA, China) with strong networking within and outside the Siemens Group. The position offers you professional insights into various domains and projects: from industrial automation to railway technology to smart grids and smart cities as well as medical technology. Furthermore, Siemens AG offers flexible working time models with home office options as well as a wide range of training courses and there are many medium to long-term development opportunities within the Siemens Group.

What part will you play? - You will define and lead technical consulting projects in the area of software development with focus on Linux for in-house customers
- You will combine the needs of industrial software projects with existing open source components and support the selection, integration and further development of open source software
- You will also help project teams to embrace an open and collaborative working culture and implement open source best practices
- You will evaluate and apply novel technologies and software engineering methods (e.g. DevOps), contribute your own ideas and implement them
- You will design and work on research topics in the area of Linux-based real-time systems, virtualization, IoT connectivity and related topics
- The realization of prototypes will also be part of your area of responsibility
- You will work on open source / Linux foundation projects
What you need to make real what matters. - You have successfully completed your masters in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, physics or engineering
- You have long term experience in the design and implementation of software systems in C/C++ and/or Python, ideally in the area of IoT and edge systems
- You have a proven track record of contributing to research and development in the areas of IoT systems and applications
- You are well versed in the open-source culture and associated code sharing platforms (e.g. GitHub, GitLab)
- Experience in one or more of these areas is also desirable: Real-time Linux system design and analysis, kernel development, continuous integration, automated testing (LAVA in particular)
- Very good German and English skills complete your profile
