At Evotec’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, the Data Science team within the Translational Neurosciences department is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated
Research Associate (all genders)
Full time and permanent
to join an interdisciplinary team of neuroscientists, stem cell biologists, bioinformaticians, and chemists in collaborative projects in the field of drug development for neuronal related diseases.
Key responsibilities:
- In-depth biological interpretation of omics-data (transcriptomics/proteomics/genomics) with a focus on drug mechanisms of action and (CNS-)disease-related signaling pathways
- Contribute to target and drug discovery within CNS-related therapeutic areas through the analyses of high-throughput small molecules screens using transcriptomics as read-out
- Collaborate with our data science and bioinformatics team to improve strategies for mining transcriptomic data, translating it into biological conclusions
- Communicate findings and present results internally and externally
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences or related field with expertise in bioinformatics/pharmacology, molecular and cellular biology
- Experience with application of “Omics” technologies and interpretation of “Omics” data (preferably transcriptomics or proteomics)
- Experience with compound profiling and/or high throughput screening of compounds is a plus
- Aptitude for algorithms and mathematical and statistical evaluation of data
- Programming experience (R-Bioconductor/python) applied to transcriptomic data analyses
- Sound knowledge of nervous systems disease biology, e.g. neurodegeneration and/or neurodevelopmental diseases is a plus but not mandatory
- Strong collaboration and communication skills as well as experience in working in interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects in parallel
- High degree of initiative and flexibility, with the ability to deliver results under challenging timelines
- Excellent command of the English language
