Compliance Officer Europe

Location: Berlin | Full-Time Permanent Role

About the role

We are looking for an Compliance Officer to join our growing Berlin office. As the Compliance Officer you will be part of a global team of professionals working to create a best in class compliance department and compliance culture in the energy industry. In this role you will support the Chief Compliance Officer by managing a variety of daily tasks, including drafting and updating compliance related policies and procedures, responding to regulatory requests, monitoring trade and communication surveillance, promotion of compliance culture, conflicts management, and delivering compliance training to the global business. You will provide advice and assistance to the business and help to develop and deploy strategic compliance initiatives across the organisation.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a primary point of contact for Compliance matters in Europe.
• Provide compliance advice and assistance to the business and support functions.
• Oversee all due diligence (KYC) requests.
• Oversee the onboarding of new joiners and offboarding of leavers.

• Develop and conduct Compliance training.
• Review and advise on new business transactions.
• Ensure that Trailstone's monitoring program, both trade and communication, is fit for purpose and is generating relevant alerts through regular reviews and calibration of the monitoring systems.
• Collect and prepare presentations for monthly and ad-hoc meetings.
• Act as the main point of contact for regulatory requests, inquiries and audits.

• Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings.
• Ensure that all compliance policies and procedures are appropriately documented, updated and available for reference.

About You:

This person will be working to create a best in class compliance department and compliance culture in the energy industry. In addition, we are looking for somebody with the following:

Requirements:

• A University degree in Business, Law, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Experience in energy commodity trading and/or renewable energy management.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the physical and financial European energy regulation, including Grid Codes, REMIT, MAR, MiFID, EMIR, etc.
• Articulate and effective communicator.

• Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective Internet and research skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Fluent English language skills (both written and verbal). Other language skills are desirable but not essential.
