Job Opening: Skilled Earth Observation Data Engineer We are recruiting for an experienced Earth Observation Data Engineer to join our client's data-driven team. This role entails transforming Earth Observation data into valuable products and contributing to the recently launched HERITAGE project. Funded by Lux Innovation through the Joint Call HPC initiative, this project is aimed at developing a machine learning model for crop yield forecasting. Key Responsibilities Design data structures and Machine Learning models to convert EO data into valuable insights. Develop end-to-end processing workflows that include EO data preprocessing and model output postprocessing. Identify data requirements for the processing workflow. Draft technical documentation and reports in English. Requirements Profil Essential Qualifications PhD in Remote Sensing or a related field (PostDoc experience is a plus). Familiarity with Satellite Optical Data (experience with SAR is beneficial). Proficiency in Machine Learning, particularly Random Forest algorithms. Skillful in GIS and Python. Competence in EO data manipulation tools, such as sen2cor. Understanding of EO data formats. Familiarity with Rest API for accessing EO data repositories. Linux shell proficiency. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Highly organized and autonomous. Desirable Skills Programming experience in other languages like IDL, C, C++, or Fortran. Expertise in physical models, such as hydraulic or hydrology simulations. Knowledge in deep learning and other AI techniques. PostDoc experience in Remote Sensing or Machine Learning.
