About the Unit

Yara has a strategic agenda to support the transition towards providing sustainable solutions for the global food system. We have a worldwide presence with sales to ~140 countries and around 17,500 employees, globally. Yara Industrial Solutions (YIS) is a global unit within Yara International. Our talented workforce of around 2,000 people in 28 countries and on all continents, capture, transform, and apply nitrogen to create a wide range of industrial products for an even wider range of industries. We continue to grow our knowledge about chemistry to support customers’ own processes and supply chains, making a difference to society every day.

The Mining Applications business unit (BUMA) generated more than 1 billion USD in sales in 2022. The team includes around 45 full-time employees (FTEs) from diverse backgrounds, working in various countries. Production operations account for 350 FTEs, and our joint ventures represent an additional 650 FTEs. We are the largest independent producer of technical ammonia nitrate (TAN) globally, with sales in over 100 countries and production in Sweden, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Finland, Norway, Colombia, France, and Australia.

Over the past years, Yara has invested nearly 1 billion USD in the unit in new plants and expanding existing production. We have several exciting opportunities in the pipeline, including new production facilities, warehouses, and investments in logistical capabilities across various regions. We are also evaluating mergers & acquisitions (M&A) ranging from small to larger opportunities globally.

About the Position

We are looking for you as a Commercial Director Africa, Middle East & Asia, a strategic leader with 8+ years of international commercial success. Bring your advanced expertise in Yara's business model, regulatory frameworks, and HESQ to drive sales strategies, lead projects, and foster a creative, results-oriented mindset. Fluent in English, your strong problem-solving skills and willingness to travel extensively within the region make you the ideal candidate.

Your primary responsibility as a Commercial Director involves guiding the team to generate value that surpasses current achievements. This role demands a strategic outlook and a long-term perspective, complemented by a proactive approach, a readiness to engage in well-considered risks, and a keen focus on effective delegation and execution through team members. Success in this position necessitates dedicating a substantial portion of your time to strategic, rather than operational or routine sales and administrative tasks, marking a significant departure from the traditional expectations of similar roles. Essentially, your goal is to lead, not merely manage, the team towards achieving exceptional results.

Responsibilities

• Commercial Strategy Development: Develop and execute a regional commercial strategy to enhance profitability and increase volumes across all product lines. This should go well beyond price and sales tactics, it could be supply models (combination shipments, warehouses), service models (concession stock, combination offers) and more.
• Bottom Line Accountability: Hold ultimate responsibility for the Mining Application business and associated product range in Africa, Middle East & Asia.
• Sales Leadership: Drive business initiatives, establish priorities, set price guidelines, and formulate sales policies using Sales Excellence processes and tools.
