About the team you are joining

Reporting to Director, Regional Affairs Europe, the incumbent will execute and contribute to designing IATA's advocacy and lobbying strategy. The incumbent will be responsible for IATA's achievement of key advocacy targets across the German speaking countries in the region. This will include liaising with member airlines and working with key stakeholders and decision makers to define and implement major aero-political policies and positions as per IATA priorities.

What your day would be like

In close cooperation with the Area Manager Central Europe advocate and lobby key IATA positions to the national governments and regulatory authorities including general legislative, regulatory and policy development issues related to industry economic and environmental sustainability policies;

Develop, execute and coordinate action plans on case by case basis according to IATA priorities and set targets and contribute to designing IATA's advocacy strategy in the Region;

Work on maximizing country/area-specific opportunities to promote the interests of the industry;

Provide briefings and timely reports regarding the progress of work of the set objectives as well as aero-political issues;

In coordination with the IATA Area Managers, contribute to developing relationships with non-Member airlines making them aware of IATA's services;

Contribute to achieving the regional commercial targets by identifying commercial opportunities when possible;

Design national and/or regional advocacy campaigns;

Plan and deliver advocacy events;

Represent IATA in relevant industry events;

Build a proactive approach to relationships with Member airlines, national industry bodies and other industry stakeholders.

We would love to hear from you if you have

A University degree in Political Science, Law, Government or International Relations Minimum 8 years of working experience with at least 3 years working in a similar role;

Strong knowledge and proven track record in building fruitful relationship with regulators, governments, institutions and stakeholders in policy and regulatory matters preferably related to the aviation industry;

Experience in the aviation industry with a good understanding of aviation environment and sustainability matters is highly desirable;

Experience from a policy-setting environment, international negotiations, and with assessing policy options would be an advantage;

Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence people in a multi-cultural environment; Proactive approach with a hands-on attitude;

Strategic mindset;

Strong communication skills, relationship management, as well as well-developed negotiation, presentation and lobbying skills;

Availability to travel frequently;

Well-developed cultural Intelligence, i.e. capacity to function effectively across national, ethnic and organizational cultures;

Fluency in written and spoken German and English is essential whilst knowledge of other languages would constitute an advantage.
