The Department of Physiological Diversity of the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research (UFZ) offers within the project “Plant nutrient responses” in the framework of the Jena Experiment the position "PhD Researcher (f/m/x) for Plant Ecology".
- Research within a project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) on “Plant nutrient responses” in the framework of the Jena Experiment (www.the-jena-experiment.de). The Jena Experiment is worldwide among the largest and longest running biodiversity experiments.
- Plant tissue nutrient concentrations and ratios are important predictors of ecosystem processes and ecological interactions.
- The tasks of the doctoral researcher are to study the effects of plant diversity on the temporal dynamics of plant nutrient responses, including their stability as temporal long-term invariability, resistance during and recovery after environmental perturbations.
- Field work will be done in Jena Experiment near to the city of Jena (Thuringia) and the Ecotron at the Experimental Field Station of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Bad Lauchstädt.

- Strong interest and, preferably, practical experience in ecological field research as well as in chemical analyses in the lab
- Solid knowledge of vascular plant species
- Expertise in statistical data analysis (preferably R) is expected
- Very good skills in communication/ English language skills
- Ability to work independently and motivated to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills as well as a driving license valid in Germany are required
