Academic Part-time Position
We require qualified individuals to teach Electrical courses at our new Conestoga Skilled Trades Campus, (on Reuter Drive in Cambridge). The current need is for Part-time Faculty to teach in the Electrical Technician, Electrical Techniques, and/or Electrical Apprenticeship during the upcoming Winter semester (January to April) and the spring semester (May to August). Candidates must be able to teach a minimum of three to six hours weekly during the day, or early evening.
We have a need for Part-time Faculty to teach a variety of subjects with a particular need for PLCs, but also for electronics, instrumentation, motors, installation methods, transformers, prints, code, and theory. Some courses will require content to be delivered online.

- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons
- Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required
- Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles
- Collaborate and build relations with other program faculty
- A Certificate of Qualification in an electrical trade is required
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant industry experience is required
- Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset
- Experience with curriculum development is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L) is preferred
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
- Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and providing a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
- Strong commitment to academic excellence and student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives.
