Laboratory Manager (No: 154-2023)

The IPF Institute Biofunctional Polymer Materials, in the research area Electronic Tissue Technology, is seeking to fill the position of a Laboratory Manager /
Technical Assistant with administrative tasks with 20 to 40 hours per week to be filled.

Job descriptions:

assist with managing the smooth running of a young and expanding research group
Microscopy techniques (transmitted light, fluorescence, electron scanning microscopy)
antibody-based analysis methods (ELISA, confocal microscopy)
maintenance, fixation and staining of cell cultures such as induced pluripotent stem cells
preparation of hydrogels according to established protocols
scientific and technical administrative task
required to schedule and coordinate scientific meetings and small symposia involving the staff of the research group but also local and international scientific collaborators
facilitate smooth communication with the institute and university administration in onboarding new people to the lab, HR, purchasing, deliveries, travel and others
procurement of scientific equipment as well as the maintenance and ordering of stocks of consumables
communication with external companies for arranging servicing of equipment
keep lab documentation (electronic and paper) up to date including standard operating procedures, safety documentation, archives and others
other management or technical tasks according to your aptitude and ambition

Requirements:

a university bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or training as a laboratory technician
good written and spoken German and English language proficiency
IT literacy and willingness to engage with various scientific management software should be demonstrated
experience in a chemical or biology laboratory setting is an advantage

very strong teamwork and organization skills
high motivation
