Kiel Institut für Weltwirtschaft
Kiel
The Kiel Institute for the World Economy (IfW) seeks applications for a position as
We will considerably expand our research agenda on geopolitics and (international) economics, e.g. on how geopolitical risks shape international finance and trade, or on the economics of war.
The position is strongly research oriented and is funded through an ERC Consolidator Grant (“International Finance and the Great Powers, 1800-2020”). There is no teaching obligation and there is just a light administrative burden. Most importantly, you will be expected to work on relevant, high-quality research and to publish in leading economics journals. You will also be expected to contribute to the policy activities of the Kiel Institute, although ideally the policy work should be based on your research output.
Candidates can choose how to divide their time between Kiel and the planned Kiel Institute / CEPR Research Hub in Berlin.
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
The planned contract period is two years (starting in the summer/fall of 2024). An extension is possible, by a maximum of one additional year. The salary will be based on the German public sector pay scale at grade EG 13 TV L and will therefore be between 52.000 and 75.000 € gross annually (depending on work experience). The position is full-time, part-time employment is also possible.
The Kiel Institute for the World Economy values diversity. We welcome applications regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. We strive for equal participation of women in all employee groups. Professional gender equality is guaranteed. The Kiel Institute is an equal opportunity employer with a certified family-friendly policy. We are committed to employing persons with recognized disabilities and will therefore give them preference over persons without disabilities if they are equally qualified. We welcome all applications, regardless of nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, age and sexual orientation.
Please submit your application online, using the Econ Job market portal for economists: https://econjobmarket.org/positions/10163.
